The trees available for planting in the Life for a Life Scheme
Planting area at King's Meadow, Strinesdale Country Park
As the 'Life for a Life' scheme continues to expand and develop, there continues to be an increasing interest shown by companies and other organisations requesting the planting of trees for colleagues who have either passed away, are retiring, or are celebrating other occasions and anniversaries. For these reasons and because of the very favourable tax advantages that are now available, the decision has been made to offer a ‘Corporate Copse of Trees’ initiative to meet these needs.
Aimed mainly at organisations and groups, a copse of trees will be made up of a mix of indigenous species, or if specified, a copse of any single species from our published list. These trees, although classed as ‘whips’, will be of substantial size and nature and are individually container grown in our own nurseries. Each copse of trees will be marked by a single commemorative plaque and recorded in a special Book of Remembrance/Celebration and kept in perpetuity.
A Certificate of Plantation will also be issued. These trees will grow quite rapidly to become part of a beautifully planned and organised woodland to be enjoyed by everyone in the community, locally and beyond, for many years and generations.
The sites can be visited all year round by employees and group members, giving great pride and joy to each member of staff as they see and realise the commitment their firm or organisation has made to the community and to the environment.
There are three main options available:
There is absolutely no limit to the amount or size of the donation made to the 'Life for a Life' charity, and all donations are tax effective. This tax effectiveness is further enhanced by the Gift Aid scheme.
The 'Life for a Life' Memorial Forest scheme qualifies for corporate tax relief as outlined in: HM Revenue & Customs IR64 – Giving to Charity by Businesses.
Full details are readily available upon request from the 'Life for a Life' Head Office by ringing 0161 624 2299 and on the Government website address HM Revenue and Customs IR64 – Giving to Charity by Businesses.
Whilst the Corporate Copse of Trees scheme is mainly aimed at corporate bodies and organisations, there is of course an opportunity for families to take part. Many requests are frequently being made by individuals for this service. Therefore interested clients are encouraged to make enquiries either by phone or letter. The trained staff at 'Life for a Life' will be delighted to assist you in all matters.

Colne, Lancashire
There are two types of memorial plaque available to clients:
The standard plaque is weatherproof, tough and durable; it features your chosen inscription in white lettering on a green background. It is included free of charge with any memorial tree, memorial bench, picnic table, or corporate copse of trees.
A distinctive alternative plaque has now been designed. The plaque’s brass coloured, anodised aluminium centrepiece measuring 11.5cm x 16cm is inlaid into a specially designed plinth measuring 14cm x 19cm (all measurements are approximate). The plinth is produced from a special polymer, making it long lasting and extremely durable against all types of weather conditions. With this in mind, a guarantee of five (5) years is given with this item.
The plaque centrepiece is also available in stainless steel for increased durability. This is offered at a minimum donation of £90.00.
This new style of memorial plaque replaces the original brass plaque previously detailed/illustrated in the charity’s literature. It is the policy of the organisation to continually seek and develop new and durable products that benefit clients and add to the quality image of the services offered by the charity.
An additional donation of not less than £75.00 is required for the distinctive plaque, and an additional donation of not less than £90.00 is required for the distinctive plaque with the stainless steel centre piece.
The New Distinctive Plaque, and the stainless steel centre plate
The charity takes great pride in the quality of all products which are available to clients however; the standard green plaque which is supplied and included in the initial donation whilst of good quality, does over time start to fade especially if facing south and therefore exposed to constant sunshine (ultra violet rays).
As an alternative the charity offers to all clients the opportunity to “upgrade” plaques at anytime to the higher specification of either “Gold Effect” or “Stainless Steel”. Both are ultra violet resistant and therefore long lasting.
The minimum donations for this service are as follow:-
| Replacement of original green plaque | £15.00 |
| Gold Effect Plaque | £75.00 |
| Stainless Steel Plaque | £90.00 (Highly Recommended) |
These donations include installation and carry a 5 years unconditional guarantee.
The “Life for a Life” Books of Remembrance are a beautiful and special way to record the planting of a memorial tree. These books are available to view in many peaceful locations around the UK, however, you may wish for a more personal record to keep at home or in another safe place. With this in mind, “Life for a Life” now introduces the “Life for a Life” Memorial Keepsake, a stunning reminder of the day a very special memorial tree was planted in tribute to a cherished member of your family.
Each precious Memorial Keepsake is embossed in gold with the “Life for a Life” emblem and measures 19cm x 13cm (approx). Inside, clients will take pleasure in viewing a beautiful black and white photograph of their chosen planting site. At the heart of the Memorial Keepsake is a copy of the inscription taken from the original book of remembrance. Hand written by our skilled calligrapher in extremely beautiful gothic copper plate handwriting, this makes the Memorial Keepsake an item that will become a family treasure for many years to come.
