‘Life for a Life’ tries hard to be transparent and open as far as  is reasonable  and in being so is  proud to announce that since its inception in 1999, it has donated substantial amounts of income back into the community. This takes the form of direct cash donations made to officially appointed beneficiaries and substantial improvements made to the environment to the benefit all in the community. Improving the environment

What better way to help the environment for the benefit of all than to plant a tree and at the same time, generate funds that will positively help and assist those people less fortunate than ourselves.

The vast majority of funds go towards helping people end their days in comfort and with absolute dignity.

‘Life for a Life’ does not only make a significant monetary contribution back into the community but also improves and maintains the quality of the natural environment.

Officially registered Environmental Body with ENTRUST (Government authority) and The National Tree Council.

In many instances where the charity has refurbished/reclaimed land, there is ample evidence of an increase in wildlife activity. The Charity is proud to boast about its’ strict extensive Biodiversity Policy and the commitment to protecting all wildlife and flora.

There is no downside to the charity’s work. Everyone in the community benefits regardless of whether they have suffered bereavement or have planted a tree to celebrate a special occasion  such as a Wedding anniversary, the birth of a child etc.

Newly Developed  &  Renovated  areas of unused land to be used as Planting Areas necessary to Generate Charitable Funds. This initiative shows considerable cost savings to councils and to the general public. New sites regularly come on stream as land is donated by supporters.

What does the charity do with the other 20%?

The ‘Life for a Life’ charity employs only 4 full-time employees and 4 part time casual labourers during the grass cutting season between the months of March thro’ September. Skilled office staff organise every detail needed in preparation for the planting of each memorial tree.

Each client is dealt with on an individual basis throughout the whole of the process, with ‘one to one’ personal attention from start to finish.

‘Life for a Life’ funds the ongoing maintenance on all sites – new, old and future. This provides cost savings to our partners who have graciously donated the land. Funds provide “Life for a life’s” grounds keeping staff with modern machinery which requires maintenance and replacement on an ongoing basis. In some cases specialised plant and machinery is need either to be hired or in most cases purchased if there is an ongoing annual maintenance requirement. No two sites are the same due to the variance in the terrain.

All trees are guaranteed for a minimum of 25 years against failure, disease or any other hazards.

All trees are inspected on a regular basis and clients notified should there be a need to replace a failing or failed specimen. The replacement usually takes place within 3 weeks of being reported. Every tree planted has its’ own unique registration number and is electronically recorded in the computer data base. The history and origin of each tree is also know and documented which also acts as a guard against disease and allied problems and underlines the Charity’s responsible attitude to protecting the environment.

All of the planting sites will, over time continue to be inspected and managed in such a way that sustainability can be assured and therefore develop into community woodlands to be enjoyed by all.
