These Terms and Conditions apply to all memorial tree dedications, donations, and related services provided by Life for a Life Memorial Forests ("Life for a Life", "we", "us", or "our"). By placing an order, making a donation, or otherwise engaging with our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. About us

Life for a Life Memorial Forests is a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity No. 1096422).

2. Nature of memorial tree dedications

2.1 All payments made to Life for a Life are charitable donations made in support of our work in creating and maintaining memorial forests.

2.2 A memorial tree dedication does not confer ownership of land or trees. All land and trees remain the property of the relevant landowner.

2.3 Memorial trees and associated plaques or markers form part of a living woodland environment and may change naturally over time.

3. Land ownership and access

3.1 The land on which memorial trees are planted remains at all times the property of the landowner.

3.2 Life for a Life manages memorial forests under agreements with landowners. Access, maintenance, and long-term management are subject to the terms and conditions set by those landowners.

3.3 We cannot guarantee unrestricted public access at all times, as access may be limited due to land management, safety, weather, or landowner requirements.

4. Natural environment and site rules

4.1 To protect the woodland as a natural habitat, visitors must observe the Countryside Code and any site-specific rules.

4.2 The following are not permitted:

Shrines, ornaments, or memorial items
Planting of flowers, shrubs, or plants around the base of trees
Fencing, edging, or ground disturbance around memorial trees

4.3 These measures are essential to ensure the woodland remains safe, sustainable, and environmentally sensitive.

5. Permanence and removal

5.1 Memorial trees are planted as part of a wider woodland scheme and cannot be removed or relocated at any time.

5.2 Life for a Life reserves the right to replace a tree if it fails within an establishment period, where reasonably practicable, but cannot guarantee survival due to natural factors beyond our control.

6. Maintenance and management

6.1 The maintenance of all Life for a Life Memorial Forests is subject to landowner agreements, ecological requirements, and best forestry practice.

6.2 Management activities may include (but are not limited to) replanting, thinning, habitat improvement, or changes to site layout where required for ecological or safety reasons.

7. Payments, refunds, and cancellations

7.1 As a registered charity, Life for a Life is unable to refund donations once received.

7.2 All monies received are treated as charitable donations in accordance with Charity Commission guidance and trustee governance.

7.3 This does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law where applicable.

8. Data protection

8.1 Personal information provided to Life for a Life is handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

8.2 Details of how we collect, use, and protect personal data are set out in our Privacy Policy, available on our website.

9. Limitation of liability

9.1 Life for a Life shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, disease, vandalism, land access restrictions, or changes in landowner agreements.

9.2 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

10. Contract formation

10.1 Once an order or donation has been submitted and payment received, this constitutes a contract between Life for a Life Memorial Forests and the individual or organisation making the donation.

11. Changes to these Terms and Conditions

11.1 Life for a Life reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

11.2 Any updated terms will be published on our website and will apply from the date of publication.

12. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
