During May 2003 the Mayor of Rossendale & Rawtenstall who, along with other dignitaries of the town, planted the first of twelve trees, within the Memorial Forest.

Off to the the right hand side of Limey Lane, which is immediately accessible from the A682 Rawtenstall to Burnley Road, a slightly inclined pathway takes you to the wild and naturally beautiful Life for a Life planting area.

The site offers a truly splendid view of the Clowbridge Reservoir with the local typography of Swinshaw Moor as a backdrop. Love Clough, Windy Bank and Swallow Shore are clearly seen from the site adding to this magnificent view.

Surrounded by unspoilt grouse moorland the planting area is teeming with wildlife. Undoubtedly this peaceful, tranquil spot is the ideal setting in which to plant a memorial tree.

This site is another great area for recreation and if you follow the main footpath which runs through the site you can link up to our memorial forest Crown Point, Burnley.

Life for a Life planting areas are natural environments where we encourage wildlife and plantlife to flourish, as such additional items should not be added to the tree or the space around it, especially as they can cause damage to the tree. Please be aware that any prohibited items left on or around memorial trees will be removed.
