This tranquil and incredibly beautiful area sits between the industrial towns of Bolton, Horwich and Blackburn. Set against the splendid backdrop of Winter Hill and the West Pennine Moors, this Life for a Life planting site at Marklands is a highly desirable Memorial Forest site.

This splendidly appointed land was extensively reinstated by Life for a Life in conjunction with United Utilities and officially opened as a Memorial Forest on 19th November 2003 by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester.

Part of the planting area overlooks a small reservoir teeming with fish and wildlife. Life for a Life has installed a small footpath and has refurbished the foot bridge which has improved access and will provide pleasant walking for all visitors who may wish to meander around the expanse of the forest.

Access to 'Marklands' is made from Chorley Old Road (B6226) by taking either Georges Lane (turn right opposite the Jolly Crofters), or Foxholes Road (from Chorley Old Road and Mill Lane). There is ample car parking facilities at the entrance of the planting area.

*Please note that this site is nearly full; please contact us before placing an order.

Life for a Life planting areas are natural environments where we encourage wildlife and plantlife to flourish, as such additional items should not be added to the tree or the space around it, especially as they can cause damage to the tree. Please be aware that any prohibited items left on or around memorial trees will be removed.
