We are delighted to be establishing a new memorial forest within Oakwood Park, in partnership with Salford City Council.
This new site will create a beautiful and meaningful place for families to celebrate and remember loved ones, while enhancing and investing in the long-term future of the park’s woodland.
We will be planting a carefully selected mix of Silver Birch, Hazel, Field Maple, Hornbeam and English Oak. These native species have been chosen for their beauty, longevity and ecological value, helping to strengthen the resilience and biodiversity of Oakwood Park’s sprawling woodland. As the trees mature, they will form a thriving habitat for birds, pollinators and other local wildlife.
Alongside the memorial tree planting, we will be delivering significant improvements to the surrounding woodland. Dead, diseased and unsafe trees will be sensitively removed to improve woodland health and ensure visitor safety. Overgrown footpaths will be cleared and enhanced, making the area more welcoming, accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
A vibrant wildflower meadow will also be established off Swinton Park Road, bringing seasonal bursts of colour and providing a valuable haven for pollinators.
Together, these enhancements will create a peaceful place of reflection within a carefully managed green space, allowing families to create a lasting legacy while contributing to the environmental well-being of the community.
