This incredibly beautiful planting site is undoubtedly a befitting place to plant a tree in loving memory of a lost loved one or for any other celebratory occasion. The Mayor of High Peak and Glossop opened this 'Life for a Life' Memorial Forest site in 2002.

The planting area sits within a landscape that is synonymous with breath-taking scenery and is immediately adjacent to the start of the 'Longdendale Trail', eventually leading onto the 'Pennine Way' which adds to the magnificence of the whole area.

As well as splendid scenery and fantastic recreational walking routes the planting area also benefits from close by parking and toilet facilities. However, please be aware that the parking is 'pay and display' for all users and visitors to the area.

The easiest way to access the planting area is via the B6015 out of Glossop. The road runs immediately past the car park and information centre. The main Manchester to Sheffield A628 is another alternative route to take.

An important consideration before placing an order for the Torside memorial forest is that the tree planting specification has been adapted to include Hazel, Hawthorn and Holly trees. Being more shade tolerant species, they will help to complement the existing memorial tree canopy and diversity the woodland's makeup.

Life for a Life planting areas are natural environments where we encourage wildlife and plantlife to flourish, as such additional items should not be added to the tree or the space around it, especially as they can cause damage to the tree. Please be aware that any prohibited items left on or around memorial trees will be removed.
