This beautiful site at Sutton Bingham, Yeovil, opened on Tuesday 2nd March 2004. It is one of the five sites that have been opened in Somerset and was graciously donated by Wessex Water.
The site can be located from leaving Yeovil following the road A37 towards Dorchester. After about 4 miles a signpost to your right directs you towards the tiny village of Netherton and the “Life for a Life” Memorial Forest.
Located on the south side of the reservoir, which was built in 1950 and near the fishing lodge, this major site has outstanding views across the reservoir towards the Yacht club.
The site is also of national importance for overwintering wildfowl and passage migrants of many birds, including osprey. The “Life for a Life” project is of course committed to the long-term protection and care of the environment.
There are public toilets located on the other side of the reservoir where there is also ample car parking available.
