This splendidly appointed land was extensively reinstated by Life for a Life in cooperation with United Utilities and officially opened as a Memorial Forest on 19th November 2003 by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester. Part of the planting area overlooks a small reservoir teeming with fish and wildlife. Life for a Life has installed a small footpath and has refurbished the foot bridge which has improved access and will provide.
Access to ‘Marklands’ is made from Chorley Old Road (B6226) by taking either Georges Lane (turn right opposite the Jolly Crofters), or Foxholes Road (from Chorley Old Road and Mill Lane). There is ample car parking facilities at the entrance of the planting area.
